North Texas Health Systems Among Top U.S. Profit Leaders

Three North Texas health systems dominate the top ranks for profit margins in the nation, as per Becker’s Hospital Review. Leading the list is Tenet Healthcare, headquartered in Farmers Branch, followed closely by HCA Healthcare's Medical City Healthcare. Baylor Scott & White Health, the highest-ranking nonprofit system, secures the fourth spot.

The region's robust growth and relatively high healthcare costs have bolstered these local giants, enabling them to outperform the national average profit margin for U.S. businesses, which stands at 7.71 percent according to an NYU study. Despite hospitals' net margin of 5.12 percent, the mentioned systems benefit from diversified revenue streams including outpatient facilities, urgent cares, physician groups, and surgery centers, which often yield higher returns compared to traditional hospital operations.
