Researcher at Baylor University Receives Career Development Award from National Science Foundation

Sarah Kienle, PhD

Sarah Kienle, PhD, assistant professor of biology at Baylor University, has been honored with a Career Development Award from the National Science Foundation’s Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program – a prestigious recognition for early-career faculty. Kienle, known for her expertise in animal behavior within environmental contexts, focuses her research on leopard seals, particularly their female-biased dimorphism. This grant will support her investigation into the causes and consequences of this dimorphism, shedding light on aspects of leopard seals' life history, reproductive physiology, and breeding biology. Collaborating with an international team, Kienle aims to deepen understanding of this species, vital for predicting their resilience amidst environmental changes in the Antarctic region.
