UNTHSC Professor Receives 2024 Henry Pickering Bowditch Award for Excellence in Physiology

Steven Romero, PhD

Steven Romero, an associate professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, has been named the 2024 Henry Pickering Bowditch Award Lecturer by the American Physiological Society for his outstanding contributions to physiology. Romero expressed gratitude for the honor, attributing it to the collaborative efforts of his lab team.

As director of the Human Vascular Physiology laboratory, his research focuses on understanding how the vascular system responds to exercise and environmental stress in health and disease. Supported by grants from the NIH and AHA, Romero's work is recognized for its impact on the field.
