JPS Health Network Joins United Way Initiative to Improve Maternal Health

United Way of Tarrant County, alongside multiple health systems, has unveiled a collaborative effort called TeamBirth aimed at enhancing maternal health and curbing birth-related deaths across Tarrant County. Recognizing the county's maternal mortality rate, which surpasses the national average, the initiative seeks to bridge communication gaps and foster teamwork between new mothers and healthcare providers. TeamBirth entails the implementation of planning boards at seven hospitals within Baylor Scott & White Health, JPS Health Network, and Texas Health Resources, facilitating the exchange of birth preferences, maternal care plans, and progress tracking for each patient. Mandating team huddles during the mother's hospital stay, the program empowers healthcare providers to actively engage in shared decision-making to enhance the quality of care, as emphasized by Amber Weiseth, director for the Delivery Decisions Initiative at Ariadne Labs.
