Collaboration in the Lone Star State Invites ARPA-H Hub-Site to NTX

Dallas biotech hub Pegasus Park could house a headquarters site for the federal government’s new biomedical research agency after a coalition of Texas cities joined forces to apply for the massive project.

For more than a year, science advocates conducted a targeted campaign to convince lawmakers that Texas is the right fit for the $2.5 billion Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health, a Biden administration undertaking to accelerate biomedical health and technology discoveries. It’ll live in three physical locations, one of which will be the Washington, D.C. area, agency director Renee Wegrzyn announced in March. 

While the original pitch for the Lone Star State came in the form of an open-ended plan outlining the unique strengths of each major city from Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and a consortium management firm laid out specifics, including choosing Pegasus Park as the proposed physical hub location
