Moncrief Cancer Institute Unveils New Mobile Screening Clinic in Tarrant County

Keith Argenbright, MD

Moncrief Cancer Institute has unveiled its new Mobile Screening Clinic ahead of the Tarrant County Commissioners Court meeting today. The $1 million, 36-foot cancer screening clinic was made possible by Tarrant County's three-year, $9 million grant awarded to Moncrief Cancer Institute in 2022. This grant, part of the federal funding received through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), aims to expand Moncrief's comprehensive cancer screening program to reach more underserved residents in Tarrant County.

Dr. Keith Argenbright, Director of the Moncrief Cancer Institute and Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center, expressed gratitude for the grant's impact in addressing potential post-pandemic cancer crises. The grant has facilitated the screening of nearly 10,000 residents for various cancers, including breast, cervical, colorectal, lung, and prostate cancer. The addition of the second Mobile Screening Clinic will enable Moncrief to double its screening efforts for breast and prostate cancer, the most prevalent cancers among women and men, respectively.
