Paapa Mensah-Kane

A team of researchers from The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth’s School of Biomedical Sciences, led by Dr. Nathalie Sumien, is expanding our understanding of hyperbaric oxygen therapy's potential benefits in treating Alzheimer’s disease. Their recent study, titled “Hyperbaric Oxygen Alleviates Selective Domains of Cognitive and Motor Deficits in Female 5XFAD Mice,” was published in the esteemed journal GeroScience.

Lead author Paapa Mensah-Kane, a PhD candidate in Dr. Sumien's lab, highlighted their findings, indicating cognitive improvements in Alzheimer's mouse models with more pronounced effects observed in females. This groundbreaking research underscores the promising role hyperbaric oxygen therapy may play in Alzheimer's treatment and warrants further investigation.
