Texas A&M Research Team Secures Grant to Develop Mobile Technology for Dementia Prevention in Asian American Communities
Led by Junhyoung “Paul” Kim, Ph.D., an associate professor of health behavior at Texas A&M University's School of Public Health, a research team has received a two-year grant from a Korean foundation. Their aim is to design mobile technology that aids older Chinese American and Korean American adults in the United States in preventing dementia, aligning with the National Institute on Aging's efforts to enhance Asian American participation in dementia care. Despite being the fastest-growing racial and ethnic minority group in the country, Asian Americans receive less than 1 percent of clinical research funding for dementia, largely due to language barriers and immigrant status.
